Here are some resources I found helpful for viewing online video.
The website Video Snag is a good place to download video from Youtube, Google, BlipTV, MetaCafe, Ifilm, DailyMotion and MySpace. Just copy and paste the target URL to save the video file.
DVD FLICK provides a very good free software package that converts your saves flash video files and burns them directly to DVD for viewing on any player. This is a great time and memory saver if you have a DVD write drive.

Downloading YouTube Videos on Firefox
If you use Mozilla Firefox as your web browser, you can add many customized features that are available for free through a Firefax addon called Greasemonkey. Greasemonkey is a Mozilla Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes to most HTML-based web pages. As Greasemonkey scripts are persistent, the changes made to the web pages are executed every time the page is opened, making them effectively permanent for the user running the script. Greasemonkey can be used for adding new functionality to web pages. Well-written Greasemonkey scripts can integrate changes so well that their additions appear to be natural parts of the web page.

Downloading Video
The ability to download video files off the web is important to a quality viewing experience. Streaming video, particularly in "full screen" mode, is often subject to jerky motion. Playing a downloaded video file allows for faster and smoother processing. I have not had good results with direct downloading. I prefer to use MIRO, a free, open-source video software. It can be found here . With Miro it is easy to search and download video from Google, Youtube and other popular servers. I also find MIRO's video player to be the best platform for playing on my TV. I do not have a video port on my desktop PC, so I use a converter from Grandtec that outputs my monitor to a video cable. This has worked well for me, and it is a good solution if your TV is in the same room as your PC. Here are some links to Grandtec products.
